The Journey of a Hero (2024) for Grade 2.5 wind band

This piece is based around the story of a fair king. This fair king was governing a kingdom that was struggling, and there was a threat of another greedy king either dueling the fair king or starting a war to take their land away from them and win it for himself. The fair king accepts the duel so his people don’t have to go to war, and although he doesn’t make it back, he also takes down the greedy king with his final breath. His selfless act saved the people of his kingdom, and the two kingdoms came together to support each other. This piece isn’t only about that though. It’s also about everyone who is a hero to you. While listening to this piece, I encourage you to think about who the heroes are in your life, the people who make each day just a little bit better by simply being around you.
