the common good (2026)
the common good (2026)
holding the door open, picking something
shattered off the ground; reassembling piece
by piece in the order you swore you saw it drop
standing there, helpless. a picture
still, still, image
it’s recently occurred
to me no one knows the true
meaning of the common good
decency’s ignored. self-prioritization
mechanisms engage, fast and throbbing
for those who drink directly
from the hands of whatever stands above
choose to ignore the common good,
where mistakes stand holy, and features are drawn out
in parallel lines to what you believe to be wrong
who ever put you in charge?
why should i, a citizen who stands before
be subject to criticisms.
no one should die,
nothing should change.
those who sing the true song
of the common good
will bleed an eternal life,
and be seen by all who watch
and one who watches all.
